I am also a amateur boxer in which In the Heavyweight division, I won amateur Irish title back in 2012 and had high profile. I am currently working as a Senior Construction Engineer in London this past 3 years so I have to fly back and forth to Ireland to play Gaelic for my team and to box for my club.
My diet is everything to me as I have been on the Paleo diet 3 years now and it has completely changed my lifestyle and outlook on life as I believe the best fuel for your body has to be sourced naturally so I'm basically an obsessed nutritionist. I am also a committed bodybuilder/Power lifter and have competed in many other sports like Rugby, basketball, American football, cross-fit, cycling, strongman events, running marathons & iron man events.
Clean Sport is the most important aspect for the future of all sports including the ones I take part in, so it's very important to me. I can say I am very proud to play a sport (Gaelic football) which currently is clean, but that doesn't mean that individuals feeling the pressure to enhance their athletic performance won't turn to certain supplements without the advice of a professional.
The worry is that they are not properly educated on the consequences of such an act and I do my best to inform the youth and fellow athletes involved not just in Gaelic football or boxing but when I am in the gym and training as I know it's a big problem amongst young prospering bodybuilders.
It's important that their is a primary prevention strategy in place to increase the levels of knowledge and decision making throughout a clean sport perspective.
The more athletes educated about Drugs in sports then the better future we can leave for the youth looking up to the stars of their respective sports.I don't want to see a sport I love become ruined like others have in the past. That is why Clean Sport means a lot to me!
